How an affiliate link works

An affiliate link is a regular link to a store, with a parameter that says where the visitor came from. If you buy within a certain time—usually 30 days—the store pays a commission based on the order value, typically between three and ten percent. The price for you is exactly the same as if you had gone directly to the store.

All outgoing store links on the site are marked with rel="sponsored nofollow", which is what Google requires for commercial links, and they open in a new tab so you don’t lose the article. Every page with such a link also has a visible disclosure box—this is a requirement under the Marketing Practices Act and the Swedish Consumer Agency’s guidance on ad identification.

Which stores are included

I link only to stores that have Swedish customer service, show prices in kronor including VAT, and apply Swedish consumer legislation. Today, there are 19 specialized retailers, connected via Adtraction or Addrevenue. I do not link to stores that do not meet the requirements, even if the commission is higher.

What the commission does not affect

• RatingThe rating is set based on five criteria according to the rating scale before the prices are collected. The commission rate is not included in any criterion.
• PlacementThe ranking in a best list follows the rating. Two products with the same rating are sorted by price, not by commission.
• SelectionWhich products are included in a comparison is determined by sales lists and category coverage, not by which stores have an affiliate program.
• What is writtenDisadvantages are always reported. A review without disadvantages is an advertisement, and it’s not published here.

Where the product and price data come from

The basis for a review has two parts. The product’s features are taken from the manufacturer’s official product page, specification sheets, and PDF manuals. The price and item data come from the stores’ own product feeds, which the site accesses via the affiliate networks Adtraction and Addrevenue—the same networks that pay the commission. The feeds include price, stock status, and item numbers—nothing editorial.

The same physical product is matched across stores using EAN/GTIN—meaning the product’s barcode number—instead of the product name. This is needed because the stores name items differently, and it’s the prerequisite for the price comparison to show all stores that sell exactly the same item the review is about—not a similar variant with a different size or color. If a store doesn’t include an EAN in the feed, it isn’t included in the comparison.

The provision clause is not included in that information, and it’s not something I factor in. The rating is based on the manufacturer’s published specifications and on the comparison with named competitors in the same price range—not on which stores happen to sell it. If the manufacturer publishes no value, that value is shown instead of being estimated, and if the manufacturer contradicts itself, both pieces of information are presented.

Prices and price updates

The prices are read from the feeds and checked when an item is reviewed, and the date is shown in connection with the price information. The category has big promotional fluctuations, so the price you see in the store can differ—the store’s price always takes precedence over mine.

Things I don’t do

• ×No sponsored articles, guest posts, or paid mentions.
• ×No links to marketplaces without a Swedish seller.
• ×No “top list” built based on commission levels.
• ×No discount codes that are conditional on a positive review.
