The manufacturer is German Orion, which sells it under the name Vinyl Dress to retailers and Kleid aus Lack to consumers. This review applies to size XS, with item number 28510591012 and EAN 4024144151783.

The specification is unusually complete for patent garments in this price range. Orion publishes the material — 100 percent polyester with a polyurethane coating — a weight of 360 grams, packaging dimensions 39 × 20 × 6 centimeters, country of origin China, and a recommended consumer price of 79,95 euro. Above all, Orion publishes a complete size chart with bust, waist, and hip measurements for each size, which is the piece of information most often missing when you buy patent garments for women online. In Sweden, the XS variant is sold by three stores at prices between 419 and 599 SEK, and all three had it in stock at the price check on 12 September 2026.

What makes the product worth its own review isn’t the material itself — it’s the same PU-coated polyester as in several other Black Level items — but the combination of construction, published measurements, and a Swedish price that, at a store, is lower than both the brand’s own mini skirt and vinyl trousers. There are also a couple of discrepancies in how the stores represent the product that are worth knowing before you order.

What kind of dress is it?

Orion’s wholesaler description is short and to the point: a short, sleeveless dress that as a whole is made of glossy black vinyl, with a low neckline in front and back, a figure-hugging cut, a flared skirt part, and a zipper incorporated into the back. The Swedish version of the same text, which Orion itself publishes on the wholesaler page, describes it as entirely black patent gloss with a deep neckline at the front and at the back. According to the consumer-facing description, the delivery contents are a dress — no belt, no accessories.

The manufacturer’s product images clearly show the construction. The upper part is made up of longitudinal panels with seams that follow the body’s lines from the shoulder straps down to the waist, and from there the skirt widens into wedge-shaped panels. The image of the dress from the back shows the zipper centered at the back from the bottom edge of the neckline down into the skirt, with a button or snap fastener at the top. The shoulder straps are wide and sit in one piece with the upper part.

The stores describe the same garment in their own words. Vuxen calls it a “super-short dress,” Taboo calls it a short vinyl dress in a body-hugging fit, and Lekosmek calls it a dress in glossy vinyl material with an flared skirt. None of them—and not even Orion—states the dress length in centimeters, and that is covered in the section about choosing the size.

XS, “SX,” and why the EAN number matters

The dress comes in six sizes from the manufacturer: XS, S, M, L, XL, and 2XL. Each size has its own item number and its own EAN. Orion’s variant table links XS to 28510591012 and 4024144151783, S to 4024144151790, M to 4024144151806, L to 4024144151813, XL to 4024144151820, and 2XL to 4024144151837. The second-to-last digit of the item number increases with the size—1012 for XS, 1022 for S, and so on up to 1062.

All three Swedish stores sell the same size under this number, but they write it differently. Lekosmek calls the smallest size “SX” instead of XS, but the store’s own product data links the variant “SX” to item number 28510591012 and EAN 4024144151783—so exactly Orion’s XS. Taboo publishes both the item number and the EAN number on its XS page, and Vuxen lists item number 28510591012 on its XS page. It’s a typo in the size selector, not another variant, but it’s worth knowing if you’re looking for XS in the list and can’t find it.

The stores’ size lists also differ in length. Taboo and Lekosmek offer XS through XL, while Vuxen lists XS through XXL, which corresponds to Orion’s 2XL. So the manufacturer has one more size than two out of three stores.

Material: 100 percent polyester with a polyurethane coating

The material declaration is the most important information for lacquer garments, because the words “vinyl,” “lacquer,” “wetlook,” and “latex” are used interchangeably in retail even though they describe completely different materials. Orion states 100 percent polyester with a polyurethane coating on both the wholesale site and the consumer site. Lekosmek and Taboo reproduce the same declaration. Vuxen instead states “Vinyl-Lack” in its fact box—a description of the surface rather than the material.

What do vinyl, lacquer, and wetlook mean for this particular dress?

What can be established from the declaration is that the dress is a textile base of polyester with a surface coating of polyurethane, often abbreviated PU. It is this coating that gives the glossy, lacquer-like finish. Orion calls the product “Vinyl Dress” in English and “Kleid aus Lack” in German, but the material declaration mentions neither PVC nor vinyl chloride. “Vinyl” here is a name for the appearance, not for the plastic—based on the manufacturer’s own declaration, it is a PU-coated textile, not a PVC garment.

The difference matters for two reasons. The first concerns plasticizers, which are covered below. The second concerns comparisons: “wetlook” is often used in retail for thinner, glossy fabrics with elastane, such as the Cottelli Collection Wetlook Mini Skirt, where Orion states 92 percent polyester and 8 percent elastane. This dress has no elastane listed in the declaration. Latex, finally, is natural rubber and a completely different material—it does not appear in the dress’s declaration at all.

The EU’s textile labeling regulation requires that a textile product be labeled with the name and weight percentage for all constituent fiber types in descending order. That is why “100 % polyester” is listed there: polyester is the fiber. The coating is given separately as an additional component. The manufacturer does not publish how large a share of the total weight is made up by polyurethane.

Does the dress contain PVC or phthalates?

The question is relevant because soft, glossy plastic in clothing form is often PVC. Kemikalieinspektionen describes that phthalates are used as plasticizers mainly in plastics, that almost all use of phthalates in goods relates to softening PVC, and that phthalates are most often not chemically bound to the plastic but can leach out as long as it is being used. The authority also states that certain phthalates can affect the hormone system.

According to Orion’s material declaration, the coating is polyurethane, not PVC, and therefore the part of the phthalate issue that involves plasticized PVC is not relevant for this garment. The manufacturer does not publish any declaration about additives in the coating, or any certification that the garment is free of phthalates, and neither do any of the stores. Kemikalieinspektionen points out that plastics generally contain additives that make the material soft, colored, or more durable, and that textiles are one of the largest product categories for plastics. So what can be said with a source is that the base material is not PVC—not what the coating otherwise contains.

Does someone who is allergic to latex need to be worried?

Not according to the material declaration, which only states polyester and polyurethane. It’s worth mentioning because Orion’s customer information—the PDF that belongs to the item number—includes a section stating that the product is made from natural rubber latex that can cause allergies. The same document has care sections for vinyl, latex, and leather one after another. So it’s a general information sheet for multiple material types, not a statement that the dress contains latex. The material declaration on the product page is the one that applies to the individual garment, and there is no latex there.

Weight and packaging: 360 grams in a box measuring 39 × 20 × 6 centimeters

Orion lists the weight as 360 grams for the XS variant and the packaging dimensions as 39 × 20 × 6 centimeters. Whether the weight applies to the garment alone or including packaging isn’t stated. The stores list other figures: Taboo 364 grams and Lekosmek 400 grams, in both cases as the same weight for all sizes. The manufacturer’s information applies, and the discrepancy mainly shows that the stores’ weight fields are shipping weights rather than product data.

For comparison, Orion lists 343 grams for the Black Level Miniskirt in vinyl in size XL and 475 grams for the Black Level Vinyl Trousers in size S, both in the same PU-coated polyester. So a full dress in XS weighs about the same as a miniskirt in XL—reasonable, considering that the dress’s flared skirt section requires more material than a straight skirt.

The packaging is a box with a product photo on the front, and the manufacturer’s image of it shows a row of the sizes from XS to 2XL at the bottom with boxes to indicate the size. Orion states 13 units per carton, customs tariff number 61130090, and China as the country of origin.

Fit and size guide: full measurement chart from the manufacturer

The dress is different from much of the category here. Orion publishes a size chart with bust, waist, and hip measurements in centimeters for each size, on both the wholesaler page and the consumer page. For size XS, the chart lists garment size 32/34, bust 74–81 centimeters, waist 59–64 centimeters, and hip 84–91 centimeters.

The entire chart, as Orion publishes it for women’s ready-to-wear:

The chart continues to 3XL and 4XL, but those sizes aren’t available for this dress. Vuxen reproduces exactly the same figures in its size guide, under the heading "Cottelli Storlekstabell"—the same manufacturer, but a different brand name than the one the store sells the dress under. Taboo and Lekosmek do not publish a size chart.

How do you choose the size in a vinyl dress?

The table is a general women’s size chart and not a measurement for this specific dress. What’s missing are the garment’s own measurements: length from shoulder to hem, and width across the bust and waist when the garment lies flat. The manufacturer does not publish garment measurements, and neither do any of the stores. For a dress that Vuxen calls "superkort" (“super short”), the length is the piece of information you most want, and it isn’t provided.

The material affects how you should read the size chart. The declaration contains no elastane, and a PU-coated polyester without elastane stretches less than a wetlook fabric with elastane in it. In practice, that means the upper part, which the manufacturer describes as body-hugging, has less leeway than a stretchier garment with the same size label. So someone who falls between two sizes in the bust or waist measurement has reason to go by the larger measurement. It’s a conclusion drawn from the material declaration, not a recommendation from the manufacturer.

The flared skirt portion makes the hip measurement less decisive than it is in a straight skirt. For the dress’s fit, it’s the bust and waist that determine it, because that’s where the construction is fitted and where the zipper needs to be able to close.

Zipper in the back and no adjustment

The closure is a zipper in the middle of the back. Orion describes it as built-in, and the manufacturer’s back-view picture shows that it runs from the bottom edge of the neckline down into the skirt portion, with a button at the top. There are no drawstrings, no buckles, and no adjustable shoulder straps. So the dress can’t be adjusted — the size has to be right from the start.

A zipper in the back is the usual choice for body-hugging dresses, and it makes the garment easier to put on, which both Lekosmek and Taboo highlight. The downside is that it can be hard to close by yourself, and that it’s the part of the garment that’s subjected to the most mechanical stress. Orion’s customer information specifically asks that zippers be completely dry after washing, which suggests this is a point the manufacturer itself considers sensitive.

Is there lining or an underskirt?

The manufacturer doesn’t specify any lining, any underskirt, or any reinforcement in the upper part. The package contents are a dress. Orion’s customer information also urges you to always wear panties when trying on the manufacturer’s clothes. It’s general advice for the entire range, but it’s worth keeping in mind for a short dress without lining, and it affects the return policy, which is discussed further down.

Washing and care: hand wash, lint-free cloth, and hanger

The care instructions are the manufacturer’s own and more detailed than usual. The consumer page states gentle hand washing with a delicate laundry detergent and that the lacquered surface can be polished back up again with a lint-free cloth. Orion’s customer information for the item number, published as a PDF, goes further and has its own section for vinyl.

How do you wash lacquered clothes?

According to Orion’s customer information, the product must be cleaned before first use. Vinyl garments are cleaned by hand after each use in clear, lukewarm water with a mild detergent. After washing, the garment is rubbed dry with a soft, lint-free cloth. Larger garments are laid out on a towel to dry, with the inside first and then the outside, and zippers and details must be completely dry. Only garments in the same color should be washed together.

What is not stated is just as important. The manufacturer does not specify a wash temperature in degrees, and nothing about machine washing, tumble drying, ironing, or dry cleaning. The advice is hand washing, period. None of the three stores publish its own care instructions. The wording “lukewarm water” is the closest thing there is to a temperature, and it’s reasonable to read the absence of machine washing as meaning that it is not recommended.

Storage: a hanger, a cotton bag, and no plastic bags

The storage advice is the part of the customer information that says the most about the material. Orion states that the product should be stored clean, cool, and dry, without direct sunlight and with high air humidity. It should be stored separately and not together with products made of other materials, to avoid chemical reactions. It also should not be stored together with garments in other colors or in dark plastic bags, as this can lead to discoloration—instead, a cotton garment bag or a soft cloth or tissue paper between the garments is recommended.

The manufacturer also writes that vinyl clothing has a tendency to wrinkle, and that the garment should therefore be hung on a hanger after cleaning to avoid creases for as long as possible. For a dress with a wide skirt section, where the creases otherwise end up in the panels, it’s a concrete piece of advice to follow from day one.

Durability: what determines the lifespan

The manufacturer does not publish an expected lifespan and no manufacturer warranty. What can be established from the customer information is which factors Orion itself highlights: sun, air humidity, contact with other materials and colors, creases, and moisture in the zipper. All of them point to the outer layer as the sensitive part of the garment, not the polyester base.

There is also an environmental aspect. Kemikalieinspektionen states that less than 10 percent of the plastic material is recycled today. A garment of polyester with a polyurethane coating consists entirely of plastic, and Orion’s customer information refers only generally to national legislation for waste management. The lifespan is therefore the only sustainability factor the buyer themselves can influence, and it is largely determined by how it is stored.

Black Level vinyl dress compared with the alternatives

Three comparisons are relevant: against the brand’s own miniskirt and its own vinyl trousers in the same material, and against a cheaper wetlook skirt from the sister brand Cottelli Collection. All four come from Orion, and the specifications below come from Orion’s wholesaler pages. The Swedish prices come from the same product listings and the same price checks on September 12, 2026.

Against Black Level Minikjol in vinyl

The miniskirt is made of the same material — 100 percent polyester with a polyurethane coating — and Orion states 343 grams for size XL. The recommended consumer price is 59.95 euro, which is 20 euro lower than the dress’s 79.95 euro. In Sweden, the miniskirt in XL cost 499 SEK at Vuxen, Lekosmek, and Taboo, and 659 SEK at Mshop.

At Vuxen, the dress is 419 SEK, which is 80 SEK cheaper than the miniskirt, even though the manufacturer’s recommended price is higher. The explanation is Vuxen’s promotion on the dress, not the pricing itself. At Lekosmek and Taboo, the dress costs 599 SEK and the skirt 499 SEK, which better reflects the manufacturer’s price relationship.

Against Black Level Vinyl trousers

The vinyl trousers are made of the same PU-coated polyester, weigh 475 grams in size S according to Orion, and have the same recommended consumer price as the dress: 79.95 euro. In Sweden, they cost 699 SEK at Lekosmek and Taboo and 799 SEK at Vuxen.

With the same material and the same recommended price, the choice between them is a matter of garment, not quality. What differs in the price comparison is that at Vuxen the dress costs 419 SEK versus the trousers’ 799 SEK, and that the dress at the other two stores is also 100 SEK cheaper than the trousers.

Against Cottelli Collection wetlook mini skirt

Cottelli Collection wetlook mini skirt is another type of garment in another material. Orion states 92 percent polyester and 8 percent elastane, 112 grams in size XS, and a recommended consumer price of 39.95 euro. In Sweden, it cost in XS from 287 SEK at Taboo, 319 SEK at Lekosmek, and 369 SEK at Vuxen.

The difference in materials is what matters. The elastane in the Cottelli skirt makes it stretchable in a way that the PU-coated polyester in the Black Level dress is not stated to be, and the weight — 112 grams versus 360 — shows that it is a considerably thinner fabric. Wetlook here is a glossy stretch textile; vinyl is a coated textile with a thicker surface. The one who prioritizes stretch and a low price chooses the Cottelli skirt; the one who wants the lacquer-look surface in a full dress has no corresponding option in this price range among these items.

Price range: 419 to 599 SEK and all three in stock

Three Swedish stores sell the dress with EAN 4024144151783. The cheapest is Vuxen at 419 SEK, while Lekosmek and Taboo both charge 599 SEK. All three had it in stock at the price check on September 12, 2026. The difference is 180 SEK, or 30 percent of the higher price.

Adult product page explains the difference. Adult lists 419,30 SEK against a recommended price of 599 SEK, a discount of 30 percent, and states that the lowest price in the last 30 days was 419,30 SEK. The dress is included in a campaign. Both Lekosmek and Taboo list 599 SEK as their price, with Taboo expressly stating it as the recommended price. So the 599 kronor are the Swedish regular price, and Adult’s price is a campaign price.

Shipping affects what you actually pay. Adult lists free shipping from 799 SEK, which means that shipping is added to a purchase of 419 SEK if nothing else is added. Lekosmek and Taboo list free shipping over 699 SEK, and Taboo lists otherwise 39 SEK in shipping. At Adult and Lekosmek, delivery is within 1–2 days, and Taboo states that orders placed before 3:00 PM are shipped the same day.

When the stores contradict each other

Review of the three shop pages found four deviations from the manufacturer’s data. None of them means that any shop sells the wrong product, but they show where the shop text is a worse source than the manufacturer’s.

Size name. Lekosmek calls XS "SX". The shop’s own product data links the variant to the correct article number and EAN, so it’s a typo in the size selector.

Weight. Orion states 360 grams, Taboo 364 grams, and Lekosmek 400 grams. The manufacturer’s information applies.

The material. Adult lists "Vinyl-Lack", while the manufacturer and the other two shops list polyester with a polyurethane coating. Adult’s description isn’t wrong regarding the surface, but it says nothing about what the garment is made of.

Size guide. Adult’s measurement table has the heading "Cottelli Size Chart" even though the dress is sold as Black Level. The numbers are identical to Orion’s table for women’s clothing, so it’s the heading—and not the contents—that’s misleading. Taboo also lists the product type "Sexy underwear" for a dress, which only affects how it’s found in the shop’s menu.

Who is the dress for—and who is it not for?

It’s for you who want a full vinyl dress and want to be able to choose a size based on published body measurements. Orion’s size chart with bust, waist, and hip in centimeters is more than most manufacturers of vinyl clothes publish, and it makes choosing a size less of a gamble than in a category where many garments only have S/M and L/XL.

It’s for you who want to know what the material is. 100 percent polyester with a polyurethane coating is a clear statement, confirmed by the manufacturer on two pages and by two of three shops, and it answers the question about PVC.

It doesn’t fit you if you need to know the dress’s length before you order—there is no such information. It doesn’t fit you if you’re between two sizes and hope that the material will give, because the declaration lacks elastane and the dress has no adjustments. And it doesn’t fit you if you want a garment that can handle machine washing: the manufacturer’s only washing instruction is hand washing, followed by drying with a lint-free cloth and storing on a hanger.

Right to complain, right of withdrawal, and the hygiene exception

Orion does not specify any manufacturer’s warranty for the dress, and that’s normal for clothes. What applies are your statutory rights. According to the Swedish Consumer Sales Act (konsumentköplagen), you have three years of right to complain for defects in the item—i.e., a defect that was already present at delivery, such as a seam that comes apart or a zipper that doesn’t work. Normal wear and tear is not, however, a defect.

For distance purchases, there is also a 14-day right of withdrawal under the Act on Distance Contracts and Contracts Outside Business Premises (lagen om distansavtal och avtal utanför affärslokaler). The Swedish Consumer Agency (Konsumentverket) advises that the right of withdrawal does not apply to goods that, for health or hygiene reasons, are sealed and where the seal has been broken. Whether a dress in a box is covered by that exception is determined by how the item is sealed and by the store’s terms and conditions, and it’s not the same as underwear that is worn directly against the intimate area. Orion’s advice to wear panties when trying it on is, in that context, a practical reason to try the dress on in the way the manufacturer recommends, so that the possibility of returning it isn’t questioned unnecessarily.
