Warranty, complaints, and the right of withdrawal

SCALA does not publish a manufacturer warranty for this item. The product page contains dimensions, materials, water resistance, packaging, country of origin, and price — but no warranty period, no warranty terms, and no reference to a registration service. This stands in contrast to the competitor Pipedream, which specifies a one-year manufacturer warranty for its corresponding model.

One of the seven Swedish shops makes its own commitment. Lekosmek states a two-year product warranty on its product page. It is a store warranty, not a manufacturer warranty, and it applies only when you purchase there. The other six shops state no warranty at all for the item.

What always applies, however, are your statutory rights. Under the Swedish Sale of Goods Act (konsumentköplagen), you have three years to make a complaint about defects in the goods, regardless of what the manufacturer or the shop commits to. For distance purchases, you also have a right of withdrawal within fourteen days under the Act on distance contracts and off-premises contracts (lagen om distansavtal och avtal utanför affärslokaler). Be aware that in practice the right of withdrawal is heavily limited for hygiene products that have been taken out of a sealed package — Konsumentverket (the Swedish Consumer Agency) provides guidance on what applies — while the right to make a complaint in case of defects applies regardless.

A concrete piece of advice that follows from everything above: save the original box with the EAN label. Seven shops sell the item under three brand names and eight different headings, and EAN 8713221820839 is the only thing that unambiguously identifies what you bought if it needs to be handled as a complaint.
