Size XL and why the EAN number matters

In practice, this means that the wetlook here refers to a polyester fabric with elastane and a glossy surface—not a plastic film. Orion describes the surface as dull-glossy, and the product images show a fabric with shine but without the mirror-gloss surface that is typical of lacquer. The manufacturer does not state that the product contains PVC, vinyl, or latex. How the gloss is achieved—whether the surface is coated, and if so with what—the manufacturer does not publish. What is the difference between wetlook, vinyl, PVC, and latex?

The difference is primarily chemical and secondarily practical. Wetlook in this product is a textile: polyester and elastane, declared according to the EU’s rules for textile labeling. Vinyl and PVC are plastics—plasticized polyvinyl chloride—and anyone who buys a PVC garment has reason to ask about plasticizers. Latex is natural rubber, and Orion itself writes on its latex products that natural rubber latex can cause allergies.

For this product, that means two things. Anyone who is allergic to latex does not need to avoid it for material reasons, because the manufacturer does not state that it contains any latex. And the question of phthalates in PVC is not relevant, because the manufacturer does not state that it contains any PVC. What can be established, however, is that the manufacturer does not publish any chemical declaration or certification for the surface itself—neither Oeko-Tex nor anything equivalent.

Practically speaking, the materials also differ in how they’re worn and cared for. Latex requires special care and gloss agents. PVC does not tolerate heat or sharp creasing. A polyester-and-elastane weave behaves pretty much like any other synthetic garment and can be hand-washed, which is exactly what Orion recommends.

The stockings: 100 percent polyamide

The stockings are declared as 100 percent polyamide. Polyamide and nylon are the same type of fiber, and the statement that the stockings consist of a single fiber means the “100 percent” claim is allowed: the EU’s textile regulation limits the use of “100%” to products that consist of a single textile fiber. Taboo describes the stockings as transparent, and the manufacturer’s images show thin, semi-transparent stockings with a denser edge at the top.

Denier, meaning the yarn’s thickness, the manufacturer does not publish and no one of the shops does either. It is the information that normally determines how transparent and how durable a stocking is. Neither the stockings’ length nor the cuff’s height is published. The only thing that can be said with a source is that they are black, that they are made of polyamide, and that, according to the manufacturer, they are simple stockings that belong to the garter set.

Dyes and chemicals in black synthetic textiles

The second is that a garter holder sits somewhere between the waist and the hip depending on how it is worn, so which measurement is the controlling one depends on body shape. The reasonable approach is to check both waist and hip measurements against the chart and choose the size in which both fit.

Vuxen shows the same table on its product page, with identical numbers, but with the heading “Cottelli Size Chart.” It is probably a heading that was carried over from another Orion brand, but the values match the manufacturer’s. Lekosmek and Taboo do not publish a size chart at all on their pages—only the size designations S to XL.

Which sock size is included in XL?

The manufacturer does not list the sock sizes separately for this set—XL applies to the entire package. However, Orion’s general table for socks and stockings connects the clothing size XL and 48/50 to the sock size V. It is the manufacturer’s general table and not information about these specific socks, but it is the closest source there is.

Length is what most often determines whether socks for a garter belt work: the edge must reach the holders. Since neither the sock length nor the garter-belt length is published, it’s not possible to calculate that, but the garters are adjustable, and it is that adjustment that makes up for the difference.

Are the stockings stay-ups?

No, not according to the manufacturer. Vuxen describes the set as a garter belt with “matching stay-ups”, but Orion calls the socks Strapsstrümpfe, meaning socks intended to be worn with a garter belt, and it states that the metal holders keep the socks in place. Stay-ups, or hold-ups, are socks that stay up by their own power with the help of a silicone edge. The manufacturer does not indicate any silicone edge, and Vuxen’s own feature box describes the socks only as plain socks without any pattern.

The difference is practical: a sock without a silicone edge will slide down if you wear it without the garter belt. So expect the socks and the garter belt to be used together. The manufacturer’s statement applies here, and Vuxen’s wording should be read as a store description.

Construction: four adjustable metal holders

The construction is classic. Orion states that the garter belt is elastic and that it has four metal holders that can be adjusted to sit correctly. The product images from the front and back show two straps in the front and two straps in the back, each with an adjustment buckle in the middle and a metal holder at the bottom.

Why metal holders matter

Garter belts are sold both with plastic holders and with metal holders, and the manufacturer highlights metal as a feature in the description. The holder is the part that takes the load when the sock is pulled downward, and it is the part that most often breaks on cheaper models. A metal holder can generally handle more than a plastic one, but it has another drawback: if it is fastened carelessly, it can leave marks or snag threads in a thin sock.

How does the garter close?

The manufacturer does not publish it. Orion describes the girdle as elastic, and none of the three stores lists suspender clips, a snap closure, or a zipper at the waist. The manufacturer’s image from behind shows a smooth girdle with no visible closure, but it’s not possible to determine from a picture whether the girdle lacks a closure or whether it’s lying on the side. What can be established is that the elastane in the fabric, eight percent, is what the manufacturer states as the fit solution: “fits itself to your body” is Orion’s own wording about the elastane.

For sizing, that means the waist measurement in the table becomes more important than otherwise. A girdle that is meant to be pulled on over the hips without an opening must stretch over the hip circumference and then stay in place at the waist, and that is the combination of the two measurements in the table.

Washing and care

Orion recommends gentle hand washing with a mild detergent for both the girdle and the stockings. It’s the manufacturer’s only care advice, and it’s shorter than a regular washing label: no maximum temperature, no symbols for tumble drying, ironing, or dry cleaning are published, whether by the manufacturer or by any of the three stores.

How do you wash wetlook and patent clothing?

For this material specifically — polyester and elastane with a glossy surface — hand washing is based on how the material is built up. Elastane is the fiber that ages fastest: it loses resilience from heat and breaks down from chlorine and oils. The glossy surface is the part of a wetlook garment that tolerates abrasion the worst. Hand wash in lukewarm water with a mild agent, gentle wringing without twisting, and air-drying flat protect both. These are conclusions drawn from the material, not the manufacturer’s words, but they point in the same direction as the manufacturer’s advice.

The metal holders are the reason not to put the girdle in the washing machine together with the stockings. An open metal holder can catch in the thin polyamide and cause a snag. Wash the parts separately, close the holders, and lay the girdle flat to dry. The wetlook surface should not be ironed; a polyester fabric is thermoplastic and a glossy surface can be damaged by a hot iron, even if the manufacturer does not explicitly state an ironing prohibition.

Real patent leather and latex require different care. Latex needs a shine treatment and protection against oil and metal, and PVC should be kept away from heat and sharp creases. None of that applies here — that’s one of the advantages of the wetlook in this product being a textile.

What wears out first?

In a set like this, there are three typical wear points: the stockings, which are the thinnest part and break first; the glossy surface on the garter belt, which can become matte where it rubs; and the elastane’s spring-back in the garter belt and the garter straps. The manufacturer publishes no expected service life and no manufacturer warranty.

Against Cottelli Party Wetlook Mini Skirt

Cottelli Party’s wetlook mini skirt is declared to be made of exactly the same material: 92 percent polyester and 8 percent elastane. It is sold in Sweden for 287 to 369 SEK, with Taboo as the cheapest at 287 SEK, and Orion’s recommended price is 39.95 euro.

The comparison says something about what you pay for. The same wetlook fabric costs 15 euro more in the recommended price as a mini skirt than as a garter belt with stockings, and in Swedish stores the difference is at least 38 SEK. For someone who wants the wetlook look and hasn’t decided on the type of garment, the garter belt is the cheapest way to get it.

Compared with the Late-X latex stockings

Late-X latex stockings are a completely different material: latex with a thickness of 0.35 millimeters, and Orion explicitly writes that they are made of natural rubber latex that can cause allergy. They weigh 252 grams in S/M, are made in the Netherlands, and have a recommended price of 59.95 euro. In Sweden they cost 499 to 659 SEK, with Vuxen as the cheapest at 499 SEK.

If you’re looking for the mirror-glossy latex surface, you won’t get it with the wetlook garter. However, someone who has a latex allergy, wants to be able to hand-wash without special products, or wants stockings and a garter for half the price of latex stockings alone has a clear reason to choose wetlook. The two products belong to the same category in the picture but not in practice.

Against Leg Avenue Vinyl Top Fishnet Thigh Highs

Leg Avenue Vinyl Top Fishnet Thigh Highs are thigh-high fishnet stockings with a vinyl top. Blush Me, which is the cheapest at 169 SEK, lists the material as 93 percent nylon and 7 percent spandex; that’s a store claim. The price in Sweden is between 169 and 279 SEK.

The difference is that Leg Avenue sells stockings with a shiny edge, while the wetlook set sells a shiny garter with regular stockings. For 80 SEK more than Leg Avenues’ lowest price, you get both the garter and the stockings here, and a garter that can be used with other stockings later. Someone who only wants the shine on the legs, on the other hand, is better served by the vinyl edge.

Price comparison: 249 SEK at all three stores

Three Swedish stores sell the XL variant with EAN 4024144094271, and at the price check on September 12, 2026, all three were at 249 SEK and had it in stock: Vuxen, Lekosmek, and Taboo. So there is no price difference to be found in the product feeds, and the choice between the stores comes down to shipping and delivery terms.

Vuxen states that shipping is free from 799 SEK and delivery within 1–2 days, and it also states that the lowest price in the last 30 days was 249 SEK — the same as the current price. So on a purchase for 249 SEK, shipping from Vuxen is added unless something else is added to the cart.

Two details after the price check are worth mentioning. When stores disagree with the manufacturer

Reviewing the three shop pages revealed two discrepancies from the manufacturer’s information. Neither of them concerns the product itself — all three sell the same item in the same size — but both affect what a buyer thinks they will get.

The first concerns the stockings. Vuxen writes “matching stay-ups”, while Orion describes stockings as being held up by the garter belt’s metal holders and does not mention a silicone edge. Anyone who expects to be able to wear the stockings without the garter belt has no manufacturer information that supports that.

The second concerns the brand and the material. Vuxen sells the product as Mandy Mystery and states the material as “Wetlook”. The manufacturer states the brand as NO:XQSE and the material as 92 percent polyester and 8 percent elastane in the garter belt, and 100 percent polyamide in the stockings. Lekosmek and Taboo reproduce the manufacturer’s fiber composition correctly. The manufacturer’s information applies.

For whom is the set suitable — and for whom isn’t it?

It’s for you if you want a stocking-holder with a glossy surface without having to buy a plastic or latex garment. Wetlook is stated here as a textile — polyester and elastane — and it is hand-washed like any other synthetic garment, and the manufacturer states neither PVC nor latex. It also suits you if you need a larger size and want a published size chart to go by: XL corresponds, according to the manufacturer, to 48/50 with 91–102 centimeters at the waist and 113–121 centimeters over the hips.

It’s for you if you want a complete starter set. The garter belt and stockings are included, and the garter belt’s four adjustable metal holders work with other stockings when the included pair is worn out.

It’s not for you if you want stay-ups that sit up on their own — that’s not what the manufacturer sells. It’s not for you if you want to know exactly how the garter belt closes, how high the stocking straps are, or how thick the stockings are, because none of that is published. And it’s not for you if you want the mirror-shiny surface of lacquer or latex: the manufacturer describes the surface itself as matte-glossy.

Complaints, right of withdrawal, and the hygiene exception

Under the Swedish Consumer Sales of Goods Act (konsumentköplagen), you have three years to complain if the item is defective.
