Monstropus at a glance — the measurements, the material, and what matters most

Monstropus Tentacled Monster Dildo is a fantasy dildo in solid silicone, shaped like a tapering octopus with two rows of suction cups along one side and ribbed rings all the way down to the base. This review is about the item with EAN 848518046697, the manufacturer’s item number AG919. The number has been checked against the manufacturer’s own product data entry, where AG919 and 848518046697 belong together, and it matches the flows from Swedish shops—Lustly even lists AG919 as the manufacturer’s item number in its feed. In Sweden, the item is sold by six shops at prices between 449 and 1,299 SEK, and five of them had it in stock during the price check.

If you only read one paragraph of this text, read this: the only number that truly determines whether the product is right for you is the 8.6 centimeters. That’s the widest insertable diameter, and it sits close to the base. Calculated as circumference—i.e., pi times the diameter—it corresponds to a little over 27 centimeters at the thickest point. Everything else in the specification is secondary compared with that number.

What Creature Cocks is, and why the shops list different brand names

Creature Cocks is one of the brands in the XR Brands range. XR Brands describes itself as a company founded in 2007 that now markets a little over forty brands, and Creature Cocks is the part of the range that consists of fantasy dildos: octopuses, dragons, lizards, and other creatures in marbled silicone. Monstropus is the series’ tentacle model, and the name is a contraction of monster and octopus.

This explains a confusion that’s easy to fall for when you compare prices. In the Swedish product listings, the brand is listed differently depending on the store: Blush Me, Lustly, Vuxen, and Lekosmek write XR Brands, Joyland writes Creature Cocks, and Taboo writes EDC—that is, the distributor’s name, not the manufacturer’s. All six list the same EAN. So it’s one single item described in six different ways, not six variations.

Two of the stores also sell it under entirely their own product names. Lekosmek calls it “Tentakel Silikon Dildo” and Taboo calls it “Monstropus Tentacled Silikon Dildo”. So if you search for the model name in a price comparison, you risk missing exactly those listings—and conversely, if you find a generic “tentakeldildo,” it’s worth checking the EAN before comparing it with this one.

Measurements: 21.6 cm overall, 19.3 cm insertable, and 8.6 cm at most

The Swedish article name states 21.5 centimeters. The manufacturer’s information is 8.5 inches, which converts exactly to 21.59 centimeters. So the difference is simply rounding at the store level and nothing else—but it’s worth knowing, because Lekosmek, in its own product text, writes 22 centimeters. None of the stores is wrong in terms of the facts; they just round in different directions from the same inch specification.

The difference between overall length and insertable length is 2.3 centimeters. That’s the base: the wide, flanged plate with the suction cup underneath. That part is designed so it cannot be inserted, and it’s that function that makes the product able to sit in a harness or be attached to a surface at all.

The diameter range is the interesting part of the geometry. From 2.5 centimeters at the tip to 8.6 centimeters at the widest point is a factor of 3.4—so the product is almost three and a half times as wide at the bottom as at the top, and that increase happens gradually over 19.3 centimeters. That means two things in practice. The tapered tip makes the first few centimeters noticeably less demanding than the end measurement suggests, which is also why the manufacturer describes the tapered shape as an aid for insertion. And it means that how deep you insert the product in practice is the same as how wide it is where it is located. Monstropus is therefore noticeably wider than the other fantasy dildos in the same series, even though it is neither the longest nor the heaviest.

Material and build quality: solid silicone with no electronics

The material question is the only characteristic of an intimate product that cannot be compensated for by experience or care, and it determines whether the product can still be used hygienically after five years. XR Brands lists a single material for Monstropus: silicone. No ABS plastic, no insertable core frame, no electronics. That makes the specification short, but also unusually easy to verify — there are no hidden sub-materials to ask about.

What premium silicone means in practice

Silicone is a non-porous material. A non-porous surface can be cleaned because there are no microscopic cavities where residue can get trapped. This is the single most important property of a material that is meant to sit against mucous membranes, and that is why the material category weighs more heavily than almost every other category in a specification.

On this product, non-porosity gets an extra dimension, because the shape is anything but smooth. Two rows of suction cups with indentations, ribbed rings, and a marbled structure provide significantly more surfaces than a smooth dildo has. This product category comes up again in supervision because it contains soft plastic against skin and mucous membranes.

XR Brands explicitly states that Monstropus is made from body-safe, phthalate-free premium silicone. It is an unambiguous declaration, and it is more valuable than it sounds — not because silicone would otherwise contain phthalates, but on the contrary: silicone does not need phthalate plasticizers to become soft, because the softness comes from the polymer’s own structure. A product listed as silicone is therefore, by itself, a better sign than almost any other material label in the category. Labels such as "TPE" or "jelly rubber" say nothing at all, however, about which plasticizers are included.

Two things the manufacturer, however, does not state, and they deserve to be said plainly instead of being assumed. XR Brands does not publish either the country of manufacture or any material certification for the product, neither on the product page nor on the company page. "Premium silicone" is a marketing phrase, not a technical category, and there is no stated standard behind it. The information that the material is phthalate-free comes from the manufacturer itself and not from a published testing certificate.

The weight of 694 grams and the hardness that is not published

The manufacturer’s product page contains no weight. That information, however, is in the product listing in XR Brands own web shop, where the item carries the shipping weight 694 gram. It should be read exactly as it is — the weight the shop calculates shipping on — but it provides a useful order of magnitude, and it matches how the product relates to the siblings in the series. Golden Mamba is 662 grams in the same range, Cockness Monster is 476 grams, and Hell Kiss is 399 grams.

Nearly seven hundred grams of solid silicone is a lot in this product category, and it has two practical implications. The first is that the product stands firmly on its own: the center of gravity sits low, in the wide section above the base. The second is that a strap that is supposed to hold it needs to be positioned properly, because the weight hangs outside the body on a lever that is just over two decimeters long.

What is missing from the specification is the hardness. XR Brands provides no Shore value and no description of how stiff or flexible the product is, other than that the stores’ own texts call it "flexible" respectively "soft silicone" — wording that comes from the retailers and not from the manufacturer. This is a real gap, because the hardness of a product with this diameter plays at least as big a role as the measurements. A soft cast on 8.6 centimeters behaves completely differently than a stiff one, and there is no published information to go by. Here, the retailers’ photos and descriptions are the only basis that exists, and they are not the manufacturer’s words.

The suction cup, the base, and the practical implications of the shape

Without a motor, battery, and buttons, use comes down to three things: how the base attaches, how the shape behaves, and how you handle the diameter. The manufacturer highlights three features in its own bullet list — the fantasy shape with the tentacle structure, the wide suction-cup base, and harness compatibility — and those are also the three that determine how the product can actually be used.

How well does the suction cup base adhere?

XR Brands states that the base is a suction cup that should be pressed firmly against a flat surface for hands-free use. The suction cup’s diameter is not published, unlike, for example, Pipedream, which lists 7.6 centimeters for its King Cock model. What can be established is that the non-insertable part of Monstropus is 2.3 centimeters high, and that the base flange, according to the manufacturer’s own product images, is wider than the shaft where it is thickest.

A suction cup works by pressing the air out between the rubber and the surface, after which the external air pressure keeps it in place. That puts demands on the surface that are easy to underestimate: the surface must be smooth, hard, and completely sealed. Tile, glass, varnished wood, the inside of a bathtub, and a mirror work. Porous wood, a matte-painted wall, textiles, and most laminate surfaces with texture do not work, no matter how good the suction cup is. There is no published information about how much force this suction cup holds, so treat hands-free use as something you try carefully first — and assume that a product weighing close to seven hundred grams will place significantly more load on the attachment than a lightweight dildo does.

Does Monstropus work in a strap-on harness?

The manufacturer states that the wide, flanged base is compatible with most strap-on harnesses. Read it as it says — de flesta, not all. A harness holds a dildo through a hole in a front plate, and the hole must be large enough to let the shaft pass through but smaller than the base flange. That’s where the 8.6 centimeters become a problem in itself: the shaft at the base is wider than the standard hole in many simpler harnesses, and then the base flange must be even wider to not slide through.

The conclusion is that compatibility with a harness here should be checked against the harness you already have, not assumed. Measure the hole’s diameter in the harness’s front plate and compare it with the shaft’s 8.6 centimeters at the base. Harnesses intended for larger dildos usually have interchangeable O-rings specifically for this situation. Weight also matters here: 694 grams on a lever arm just over twenty centimeters long places demands on how tightly the harness sits, and a thin nylon harness will slide.

How big is 8.6 centimeters in diameter, really?

It’s the question that determines the purchase, and it deserves a straight numeric treatment. 8.6 centimeters in diameter corresponds to a circumference of pi times 8.6, so just over 27 centimeters. Two stores describe the product as a choice for those who are used to it, and Joyland categorizes it under "Dildos - XXL". What can be established from the manufacturer’s own figures is that it is significantly wider than everything else in the Creature Cocks series: Golden Mamba stays at 6.4 centimeters, Cockness Monster and Swamp Monster at 5.1 centimeters, and Hell Kiss at 5.6 centimeters. Even compared with a realistic dildo of the same total length, the difference is large—Pipedreams King Cock 8" is stated to be 5.5 centimeters in insertable diameter.

The unevenness of the shape is a factor, too. The rows of suction cups and the ribbed rings mean that the diameter doesn’t grow evenly but in steps, and that the surface has protruding sections rather than a smooth cone. That’s the whole point of the design, but it also means that the local load differs from a smooth shape with the same nominal diameter. Plenty of water-based lube and gradual acclimatization are therefore not generally good advice here; rather, they are a prerequisite for the product to be usable at all—which is exactly what Lustly writes in its own product text.

Can Monstropus be used anally?

Here the manufacturer’s and the stores’ information diverge, and it’s worth knowing who says what. XR Brands doesn’t mention anal use at all on the product page — it only says that the product can be used hands-free with the suction cup or in a harness. Blush Me and Vuxen, on the other hand, write in their own product texts that it can be used both vaginally and anally, and Taboo writes that it’s suitable for both vaginal and anal stimulation. So that’s the retailers’ information—not the manufacturer’s.

What can be established purely from the construction is that the product has a wide, flanged base intended to be impossible to insert—and that is the characteristic usually cited as the requirement for a product to be usable anally without the risk of slipping in. So that requirement is met. The diameter, however, is an entirely different matter: 8.6 centimeters is exceptionally large in this context, and the tapering shape means it can be used using only part of the insertable length.

Cleaning, lubricant, and storage

Without electronics, care is easier than with almost anything else in the category. The manufacturer’s own guidance is short and to the point: wash the product with warm water and soap after use, spray it with a toy-cleaning product, wipe it down, and store it cool and dark away from direct sunlight.

Because there is no motor, no battery compartment, and no charging connector, there is also nothing that can’t handle water. The entire product can be rinsed under the tap without a second thought—and that is the practical difference compared to a vibrating model. The manufacturer’s own Monstropus 2.0 is rated IPX6, which according to IEC 60529 means protection against powerful water jets but not against submersion—and XR Brands also explicitly writes that this model must not be submerged in water. That limitation simply doesn’t exist here.

Be careful in the details. The rows of suction cups and the rings are where residue stays behind the longest, and a soft brush or your fingers under running water does more good than rinsing the shaft from the side. Let the product air-dry completely before putting it away—not because it will be damaged by moisture, but because storing a damp product in a sealed bag is never a good idea.

The sunlight guidance isn’t a formality. The manufacturer states that the product should be stored in the dark without direct sunlight, and on a product with strong pigments in green and yellow, it’s the color that’s affected first. Also avoid storing silicone products in direct contact with each other for long periods, because plasticizers and pigments can migrate between materials that are pressed against each other.

Which lubricant works with Monstropus?

Water-based—and nothing else. The manufacturer’s guidance is unambiguous: use only with water based lubricants. This isn’t a precautionary formulation—it’s a materials issue. A silicone-based lubricant breaks down the silicone surface over time and makes it porous, and a porous surface can no longer be cleaned properly—only replaced. The effect comes on gradually: first a slightly sticky feel, then a dull surface that doesn’t return.

That XR Brands takes the issue seriously shows in a sister product: for Swamp Monster, which is cast in silicone around a glass core, the manufacturer states that it must not be used with any silicone products at all. The same principle applies here. Oil-based products like coconut oil are also unsuitable—they leave a film that’s hard to remove and that collects residue.

A practical tip that applies to this product more than most: water-based lubricant dries in faster than silicone-based, and for a mold with this diameter you need more of it than you’d expect. Keep water or a spray with a little extra lubricant within reach instead of counting on an applied amount.

Shared use, condom, and hygiene

If the product is used together with any other product, the same rules apply as for all insertable products. 1177 (Swedish healthcare information) writes that a condom is a type of protection that can be put on a penis or a dildo, and that a condom and femidom protect against sexually transmitted infections. A condom on the product between partners, or a condom change, is therefore the simple measure — and it works just as well on silicone as on anything else.

Two additional points are worth mentioning. Condoms are made for penis diameters, and a product with a diameter of 8.6 centimeters falls outside that range — so there is a practical limit for how far up on the shaft such protection actually reaches. And always change the condom, or clean the product, between anal and vaginal use; it’s the same basic rule that applies to everything else that is inserted.

Against Monstropus 2.0 Vibrating Tentacle — smaller, but with a motor

XR Brands sells the same design language in a vibrating version, Monstropus 2.0 Vibrating Tentacle Silicone Dildo with article number AH404. The name suggests an upgrade, but in practice it’s a different product — and above all, a significantly smaller one.

The dimensions speak for themselves. Monstropus 2.0 is stated as 7.3 inches total and 6.6 inches insertable, i.e. 18.5 and 16.8 centimeters, versus 21.6 and 19.3 centimeters on the original. The stated widest insertable diameter is 2.8 inches, i.e. 7.1 centimeters, versus 8.6 centimeters. The vibrating model is therefore shorter, has less depth, and is 1.5 centimeters narrower at the widest point.

What it adds is a motor with three speeds and seven vibration patterns, plus charging via the included USB cable. The price for that feature is the material and water resistance: Monstropus 2.0 is specified in silicone and ABS plastic, not just silicone, and it’s rated IPX6 with an explicit instruction that it must not be submerged in water. According to IEC 60529, IPX6 means protection against powerful water jets, not against submersion. The difference is concrete: the original can be rinsed however you like, the vibrating one can’t.

An important practical note: Monstropus 2.0 is not available in any of the Swedish product feeds we have price data from. If you want the vibrating version, you therefore have to count on import, while the original is sold by six Swedish stores.

Against Hell Kiss and Golden Mamba — same series, half the diameter

Two other Creature Cocks models are sold by the same Swedish shops, and are therefore the most practical comparison. Blush Me, which lists Monstropus for 695 SEK, lists Hell Kiss Twisted Tongues for 495 SEK and Golden Mamba for 649 SEK—both in stock at the price check.

• Hell Kiss Twisted Tongues (AH159, EAN 848518051622) — 7.4 inches total and 5.7 inches insertable, i.e. 18.8 and 14.5 centimeters. Maximum insertable diameter 2.2 inches, i.e. 5.6 centimeters. Silicone. Clearly the smallest of the three, and the cheapest.
• Golden Mamba (AH288, EAN 848518053220) — 9 inches total and 8 inches insertable, i.e. 22.9 and 20.3 centimeters. Maximum insertable diameter 2.5 inches, i.e. 6.4 centimeters. Silicone. Longer than Monstropus, but 2.2 centimeters narrower.
• Monstropus (AG919) — 21.6 and 19.3 centimeters, maximum diameter 8.6 centimeters. Silicone.

The pattern is clear. If you want the Creature Cocks design language but not the extreme diameter, there are cheaper ways to get there within the same series and from the same shops. Golden Mamba is even longer. Monstropus stands out in exactly one area—circumference—and that’s the point you’re paying for.

A third model also belongs in the context as a warning rather than an option: Swamp Monster (AH055) is sold by Lekosmek from 1,259 SEK, is cast in silicone around a glass core, and according to the manufacturer must not be used together with any silicone products at all. It’s also only 5.1 centimeters at its widest despite 9.4 inches in total length. The combination of the most expensive and the narrowest makes it hard to justify if it’s circumference you’re after.

Mot King Cock 8" Cock with Balls — same length, different everything

The most illuminating comparison is with a realistic dildo with practically identical overall length. Pipedreams King Cock 8" Cock with Balls in brown, EAN 603912350241, is listed as 8.4 inches total—21.4 centimeters versus Monstropus 21.6. That’s where the similarities end.

King Cock is listed as having an insertable length of 15.2 centimeters versus 19.3, and an insertable diameter of 5.5 centimeters versus 8.6. The suction cup’s diameter is listed as 7.6 centimeters and its height as 2.0 centimeters—XR Brands does not publish these details for Monstropus. The weight is listed as 621 grams versus 694. And the material is PVC, not silicone.

The difference in material is the one that matters most over time. Softened PVC is another material than silicone in exactly the property that counts: it isn’t porous in the same way, and it’s in that material group where the need for plasticizers arises at all. Kemikalieinspektionens description of phthalates is, in practice, about softened PVC. That doesn’t mean that a PVC product is unsuitable—it means that the material declaration on it needs to be read more carefully than on a silicone product.

The price difference is large. The King Cock models are in the Swedish product flows from 376 SEK, i.e. about two thirds of what Monstropus costs at the lowest available price. If you choose based on price and realism, King Cock wins. If you choose based on material, size, and shape, Monstropus wins—and in practice, it’s two completely different purchase decisions.

Price range: 449 to 1,299 SEK at six stores

Six Swedish stores sell the item with EAN 848518046697. The lowest price in the flow is Lustly at 449 SEK, but that listing was sold out at the price check. The cheapest among those that actually had the item in stock was Joyland at 591 SEK, followed by Blush Me at 695, Vuxen at 995, Lekosmek at 1,169, and Taboo at 1,299 SEK.

The spread is extreme for the same item number, the same color, and the same packaging. From 591 to 1,299 SEK is 708 SEK, which means the most expensive store takes about 120 percent more than the cheapest available. Counted from Lustly’s sold-out 449 SEK, the difference is 850 SEK, i.e. 189 percent. There’s no difference in the product that would justify it—it’s the stores’ own margin setting on an item that isn’t a price-pressured volume product.

Two of the stores also show a higher regular price in their flows: Blush Me lists 995 SEK as the regular price versus 695 in the current price, and Joyland lists 895 versus 591. It’s worth noting that Blush Me’s regular price happens to be exactly the same as Vuxen’s current price. Promotional prices move around in this category, and the prices in the table above update when the stores’ flows update—but always check the final price at checkout. Shipping cost is added at several of the stores: Blush Me indicates 29 SEK and Joyland 69 SEK in their flows, which shrinks the difference between the two cheapest from 104 to 64 SEK.

The stores’ own information doesn’t always match

A review of the six product texts shows how much they differ from the manufacturer’s information, and that’s in itself a reason to read them with some distance.

• Category. Both Vuxen and Blush Me place the product under "Dragon dildos", even though the manufacturer describes it as a squid-shaped dildo with cephalopod suction cups. Joyland categorizes it as "Dildos - XXL" and "Dildos - Fantasy", which is closer.
• Length. Lekosmek writes 22 centimeters in its product text. The manufacturer’s 8.5 inches corresponds to 21.6 centimeters, and the item name at the other stores states 21.5.
• Variants. Taboo states that the product "is available in several sizes and colors". The manufacturer lists a single variant of AG919, in a single color scheme.
• Brand. Taboo lists EDC as the brand, which is the distributor. Joyland lists Creature Cocks; the others list XR Brands.

None of the deviations is serious by itself, but together they say something useful: when numbers differ between a store text and a manufacturer page, the manufacturer page applies. Always check the EAN when comparing prices in this category, because product names are freely worded by each store.

Who is Monstropus for—and who is it not for?

It’s for you if you intentionally look for a fantasy shape with a strong texture and you already know that the circumference at this level works for you. It’s for you who wants silicone all the way through rather than PVC or TPE, for you who wants to be able to rinse the entire product under the tap without thinking about electronics, and for you who wants a base that both sticks against a flat surface and can be mounted in a harness. That it’s molded in one piece without a battery also makes it a product whose lifespan is determined by the material and not by a lithium-ion cell.

It’s not for you if you’re unsure whether 8.6 centimeters in diameter is reasonable—there, Hell Kiss at 5.6 centimeters and Golden Mamba at 6.4 centimeters are much more reasonable entry points into the same series, and both are cheaper at the same store. It’s not for you if you want vibration; then the Monstropus 2.0 model is the one to go with, with the reservation that it neither is sold in Sweden nor tolerates submersion. It’s not for you if you want a discreet product—21.6 centimeters of marbled green and yellow silicone isn’t something that gets hidden in a pouch. And it’s not for you if you need to know the material’s hardness before buying, because the manufacturer does not publish any Shore value.

One final thing belongs in the decision. This product has nothing to learn—no positions, no interface, no app. Everything that determines whether it gets used or stays in the box is decided by two numbers given in the specification before you buy: 19.3 and 8.6 centimeters. It’s unusual for a purchase decision to be boiled down so much, and it’s actually an advantage—there’s nothing to be disappointed by afterward that wasn’t already stated up front.

Warranty, returns, and right of withdrawal

XR Brands own policy is short. The manufacturer states 30 days from delivery for return or exchange of a defective or damaged item, requires a pre-approved RMA number before the return can be started, lets the customer cover the return shipping costs, and deducts an handling fee when returning an item that is in perfect condition. In the event of a confirmed defect, the company covers the shipping cost for the replacement.

That policy applies to purchases made through the manufacturer’s own channel. If you buy from any of the six Swedish stores, the store is your counterparty, not XR Brands, and then Swedish consumer law applies. According to konsumentköplagen (Swedish Consumer Sales Act), you have three years of complaint rights for faults in the goods, regardless of what the manufacturer promises—so thirty-six times as long as the manufacturer’s own thirty-day period.

For distance purchases, you also have a right of withdrawal for fourteen days under the law on distance contracts and agreements outside business premises (lagen om distansavtal och avtal utanför affärslokaler). Be aware that, in practice, the right of withdrawal is limited for hygiene products that have been removed from a sealed package—Konsumentverket describes the exception, and a dildo that has been taken out of its packaging normally falls under it.
