What can be reviewed for a garment of this kind is the material declaration, size information, construction, care instructions, and how consistently the details are reproduced at the shop level. The material and construction are clearly described. The biggest gap concerns the part that is most specific to a waist corset: the garment’s own height and waist measurement, and what the shaping stays are made of. The price spread is also the largest within this group of Black Level garments—the most expensive shop charges almost twice as much as the cheapest one.

Size S and EAN 4024144146048 — that’s how the numbers connect

The waist corset is available in four sizes from the manufacturer—S, M, L, and XL—and each size has its own EAN and its own item number. Here, the connection is unusually easy to verify, because Orion itself publishes the barcodes on its wholesaler page: S has 4024144146048 and item number 28406851022, M has 4024144146055 and 28406851032, L has 4024144146062 and 28406851042, and XL has 4024144146079 and 28406851052.

The store data matches the manufacturer. Both Taboos and Lekosmeks variant tables link the Small variant to barcode 4024144146048 and article number 28406851022, and Mshops product data lists size S and the same EAN for the side that is included in the price comparison. All three stores therefore sell the same size. The German retailer AG Fashion publishes 4024144146055 on its page for M, which matches Orion’s row for M.

One detail distinguishes the stores in their range, but not in this size. Taboo and Lekosmek list only S, M and L—XL is not available at either of them. Mshops page instead shows the EAN for S, L and XL. So if you need size XL, you have fewer Swedish stores to choose from than if you need S.

What’s included in the package?

Orion’s German product page states the delivery contents verbatim as "1 x Taillenmieder aus Lack von Black Level", and Lekosmek writes in its product text that only the corset is included in what is shown in the picture. The manufacturer’s packaging image shows a flat cardboard box with size boxes for S, M, L and XL on the front. Typically, the manufacturer’s customer information is included in the package, and it is also published as a PDF for article number 28406851022. The brochure is dated 08.2024 and is common for several material types: it has separate sections for latex, patent leather and leather, and for this product it is the patent leather section that applies. It begins with two general instructions that are relevant already before first use: the garment should be cleaned according to the care instructions before it is used for the first time, and underwear should always be worn when the garment is tried on.

Material: 100 percent polyester with polyurethane coating

The material declaration is consistent in almost all respects. Orion states "100% Polyester, Polyurethan Beschichtung" on the wholesaler page and on the German consumer page, and the Swedish product text on the wholesaler page writes "100% polyester, polyuretanskikt". Taboo lists 100 percent polyester with a PU coating; Mshop writes polyester with a polyurethane coating in its product text; and the German retailers AG Fashion and High Feelings state the same thing as the manufacturer.

Two stores differ in their wording. Lekosmek does not mention the fiber at all; instead, it writes "high-quality material with a PU coating," and Mshops specification table lists the material as "Polyuretanplast"—which describes the surface but omits the textile underneath. Neither of them contradicts the manufacturer, but neither of them provides the full declaration. The manufacturer’s statement applies.

The description refers to a coated textile material: a polyester textile with a thin layer of polyurethane on the surface. It is the coating that gives the shiny lacquer finish, and the polyester underneath that gives the garment its structure. The percentage refers to the fiber content, while the polyurethane is listed separately as the coating. How thick the coating is, what the boning and lining are made of, and whether the garment has any lining at all are not published by the manufacturer. The same declaration appears for Black Levels vinyl dress, mini skirt, and lacquer pants at Orion, so the waist corset is made from the brand’s standard material for the women’s collection.

What’s the difference between vinyl, lacquer, wetlook, and latex?

The terms are used interchangeably, and they don’t mean the same thing. For this product specifically, there are three names: Orion calls it "Vinyl Waist Cincher" in English and "Taillenmieder aus Lack" in German, and the Swedish shops sell it as a waist corset in lacquer or as a vinyl waist cincher. Taboo and Lekosmek have also tagged it as wetlook. However, the material declaration shows what it actually is: polyester with a polyurethane coating.

"Vinyl" and "lacquer" are trade names here for a shiny, coated material and say nothing about which plastic is on the surface. "Wetlook" is an appearance, not a material. Latex is something completely different: natural rubber, without textile underneath. Orions customer information keeps them separate and gives latex its own section, where the manufacturer states that latex products are made from natural rubber latex, which can be allergenic. None of this applies to this waist corset, because the declaration does not mention latex. For anyone with a latex allergy looking for a shiny corset, this is the most important line in the specification.

Does the waist corset contain PVC or phthalates?

According to the declaration, it contains no PVC, and that’s an important difference. Kemikalieinspektionen describes that almost all use of phthalates in goods is as plasticizers in the plastic polyvinyl chloride, and that phthalates in flexible plastic can make up as much as half of the material. Several phthalates with low molecular weight are, according to the authority, classified as reproductive toxins. Flexible PVC is used, among other things, in prints on clothes and in rainwear, and it’s the plastic many people think of when they hear the word vinyl.

Polyurethane is another type of plastic. Kemikalieinspektionen lists polyurethane and PVC among the six plastic types that together account for about 80 percent of plastic use in the EU, but as two separate materials. Because the coating is polyurethane, the biggest phthalate concern in lacquer clothes doesn’t apply here, as long as the declaration is accurate — and it’s presented the same way by the manufacturer and by the shops that state the fiber.

That does not mean the garment is free of chemicals. The manufacturer does not publish any chemical declaration, any material certification such as Oeko-Tex, or any information about additives in the coating. Mshop says that the material provides more breathability than “rigid PVC”; it’s a shop claim that has no equivalent at Orion, and a polyurethane-coated garment is still a plastic-coated garment on the outside.

Construction: zipper in front, lacing in back, and shaping stays

The construction is the part of the specification that the manufacturer describes most thoroughly. Orion lists three features: an all-the-way zipper in the front, lacing in the back that is lined with a patent leather strip, and built-in shaping stays. The wholesaler’s feature list briefly states “With zip” and “With lacing.”

The manufacturer’s disclosures on an invisible mannequin show what it looks like in practice. From the front, you can see a zipper running the full height in the middle in front, several vertical seams that divide the corset into panels, and an edge that is higher in front and tapers into a point at the lower end of the zipper. From the back, you can see two rows of metal rings with a black lacing cord crossing in an X, and below the lacing cord a patent leather panel that covers the gap between the two edges. The pictures also show an edge trim along both the upper and lower edges.

Why both a zipper and a drawstring?

The combination is what sets this waist corset apart from simpler models, and Orion itself explains why it’s there. The German product page states that the zipper in the front allows the corset to be put on and taken off quickly without needing to re-tie the lacing every time. The lacing in the back is described as variable and lined with patent leather, so that you have “noch ein wenig Spielraum”—that is, a little room to adjust—without your skin showing through the opening.

In practice, that means the lacing is adjusted once, after your body, and then the zipper takes care of putting it on and taking it off. Taboo describes the same thing as lacing in the back for an adjustable fit and a zipper in the front for easy use. What can be established is that the adjustment is limited to the gap in the back: the manufacturer itself uses the expression “ein wenig”, a little, and Orion does not publish how many centimeters the lacing can take up or let out. The number of rings, the length of the cord, and the zipper’s material are also not stated.

The patent leather panel under the lacing is the detail Orion itself highlights. A laced opening without a panel shows a strip of skin or an underlying garment in the back; with the panel, the back is closed even when the lacing is not fully tightened. It’s also why the manufacturer’s back view shows a uniform black surface between the rows of rings.

Shaping stays: what the manufacturer says and doesn’t say

The German product name is "Taillenmieder aus Lack, mit Formstäben" — a waist corset in patent leather, with shaping stays. Orion writes that the incorporated shaping stays support the fit and provide a seductive silhouette. That’s everything the manufacturer says about them. Orion does not publish the number of stays, material (plastic or steel), length, or whether they can be removed, and neither of the two German retailers does so either.

Mshop is the only source that goes further, and the details should be read as the store’s own information. The store writes that it is not a steel-boned corset for extreme waist training, but a waist shaper with an internal "boning". It also says that the cincher marks the waist "1-2 cm" in the product text — but in the care section on the same page it says that it provides shaping at "approximately 1 to 2 inches". Two inches is a little over five centimeters, so the store gives two different numbers for the same thing, and neither of them is provided by the manufacturer. The cautious conclusion is that it’s a model for silhouette and appearance, not for waist training, and that there is no published figure for how much it draws in.

What’s the difference between a waist corset and a corset?

A full corset or an overbust corset also covers the bust and often has cups or a shaped upper edge. A waist corset — waist cincher in English, Taillenmieder in German — ends under the bust and only shapes the waist area. Black Level’s model is of the latter kind: the manufacturer’s pictures show a band that sits between the lower edge of the ribcage and the hips, and Orion describes it as a garment that can be worn on its own or over clothes.

The difference matters for choosing a size. A waist corset has no bust measurement to take into account, and it’s the waist measurement that determines the size. It’s also easier to combine with other clothing — Orion’s own pictures show it both over a mesh top and worn directly against the skin. Mshop suggests in its text that it can be worn under a body-hugging dress; that’s a store claim, and Orion only mentions the ways it can be worn on its own and over clothes.

Fit and size guide

The fit is determined by your size choice, by the lacing at the back, and by the shaping stays. The material doesn’t provide anything extra: the declaration is 100 percent polyester without elastane, and the manufacturer does not describe the material as stretchy. A waist corset should also fit tightly, so the margin on both sides is smaller than for a loose garment.

What size should I choose in Black Level?

Orion publishes a women’s size chart in centimeters on both the wholesaler’s page and the consumer page, with eight sizes from XS to 4XL. The waist corset is sold in four of them, and the table looks like this for the sizes that are available:

For a waist corset, the waist measurement is what determines it, and size S corresponds to a waist of 65–73 centimeters according to Orion. High Feelings publishes the same values. The table is shared for Black Levels women’s clothing and states body measurements—so which body the size is intended for—not how much the corset pulls in. Mshop states that the waist is measured where it is narrowest, about 2 centimeters above the navel; this is a store instruction, but it matches how a waist measurement is normally taken.

If the waist measurement lies on the borderline between two sizes, lacing is the only thing that provides room. Since the manufacturer describes this adjustment as small, it is a reasonable conclusion that the choice of size should be made according to the table and not with the hope that the lacing will compensate for an entire size. Orion provides no separate instruction for how to choose between two sizes.

Garment measurements and height: what’s missing

The biggest gap in the specification concerns the garment itself. Orion does not publish any height—neither front, side, or back—and no garment measurement at the waist for any size, and none of the three Swedish stores or the two German retailers does it either. For a waist corset, the height is a key detail: it determines whether the corset ends below the ribcage or presses against it, and whether the lower edge lands above the hip bones or on them. What can be established is that the manufacturer’s images show a corset that is higher at the front than at the sides and tapers down to a point in the middle at the front.

A garment measurement at the waist is also missing—that is, how many centimeters the corset measures when it is fully closed. This is the figure that would show how much it actually pulls in compared to the body measurement in the table. Without it, there are only Mshop’s two conflicting claims of 1–2 centimeters and 1–2 inches, respectively. This is why the size information gets a lower rating than the material, despite an otherwise complete size chart.

A third detail points in a different direction and is covered under specification conflicts further down: AG Fashion states that S corresponds to size 36, M to 38, L to 40, and XL to 42. Orion’s own table lists S as 36/38 and M as 40/42. The manufacturer’s table applies.

Care: hand wash, drying, and storage

The care instructions are the point where the manufacturer publishes the most, and they are found in two places. Orion’s German product page provides a short version: clean the waist corset with gentle hand washing and mild detergent, and use a lint-free cloth to restore the shine on the lacquered surface. The customer information in the PDF provides the detailed version under the heading "Care instructions for lacquer".

How do you wash patent leather clothes?

According to Orions customer information, the garment should be cleaned by hand after each use, using clean, lukewarm water and a mild detergent. After washing, it should be rubbed dry with a soft, lint-free cloth. Larger garments should be laid on a towel to dry, and the inside should dry first, followed by the outside. The manufacturer emphasizes that the zipper and details should be completely dry.

For a waist corset, the last point is more relevant than for a smooth garment. A zipper running the full height, two rows of metal rings, a drawstring, and a panel under the lacing are all places where water can be left behind. Orion does not publish any washing temperature in degrees or any explicit prohibitions against tumble drying or dry cleaning. The brochure states that additional care instructions may be found on the packaging or on the wash label, so the physical label on the garment is the final check.

Mshop publishes its own, longer care instructions that partly differ. The store recommends cold or slightly cool water, where the manufacturer specifies lukewarm, and advises against all ironing and against machine washing. The prohibition against ironing and machine washing does not contradict the manufacturer—Orion states that the garment should be hand washed and does not mention ironing—but the water temperature is a deviation. The manufacturer’s instruction applies.

Storage, creases, and discoloration

Orion’s customer information devotes more space to storage than to washing. The manufacturer states that the garment should be stored clean, cool, and dry, without direct sunlight and without high air humidity. It should be stored by itself and not together with garments made of other materials, to avoid chemical reactions, and not together with garments in other colors or in dark plastic bags, as this can lead to discoloration. Instead, a cotton garment bag is recommended, or a soft cloth or tissue paper between the garments.

The manufacturer also writes that patent-leather garments tend to get wrinkled and that they should be hung on a hanger after cleaning. The instruction about separate storage is worth taking seriously for a waist corset, which is often stored together with the garments it is worn with—such as a patent-leather skirt, a dress, or a top made of another material. According to the manufacturer, it should be stored on its own.

What the Fiber Regulation Says About Corsets

That information about the fiber composition being published at all is not a coincidence. Konsumentverket describes that the fiber regulation covers clothing items, that information about which textile fibers the product contains must be clearly visible to the consumer before the purchase—even when the purchase is made online—and that labeling must be in Swedish when the product is sold on the Swedish market. The authority also mentions corsets in particular: the fiber composition for, among other corsets, must be stated in accordance with the provisions in Annex IV of the regulation.

Two out of three Swedish stores state the fiber in Swedish on the product page: Taboo lists 100 percent polyester with a PU coating, and Mshop lists polyester with a polyurethan coating. Lekosmek only lists the PU coating and “high-quality material,” without any fiber. It is the manufacturer’s declaration that is the reliable piece of information, precisely because it is covered by the regulations and is not voluntary marketing.

Compared with the Black Level vinyl dress with a flared skirt

Black Levels vinyl dress with a flared skirt is made of the same material as stated by Orion — 100 percent polyester with a polyurethane coating — and costs 79.95 euro from the manufacturer, ten euros more than the waist corset. In Sweden, the dress was available in size XS for 419 SEK from Vuxen during the price check, compared with 599 SEK at Lekosmek and Taboo.

The waist corset in size S cost 399 SEK at Taboo. So the two garments are close to one another in the cheapest store, even though the manufacturer prices the dress ten euros higher. The difference is that the dress is a complete garment, while the waist corset assumes something underneath or something to combine with.

Compared with the Black Level vinyl mini skirt

Black Levels vinyl mini skirt is also made of 100 percent polyester with a polyurethane coating and costs 59.95 euro from Orion — ten euros less than the waist corset. In Sweden, size XL cost 499 SEK at Vuxen, Lekosmek, and Taboo, and 659 SEK at Mshop.

Here, the Swedish prices are reversed compared with the manufacturer’s order. The skirt is cheaper at Orion but more expensive in Sweden than the waist corset at Taboo. The skirt and the corset are also a natural match: a flared skirt with a defined waist is exactly the silhouette a waist corset is made to enhance, and since the material is the same, the shine is the same.

Versus Black Level vinyl trousers

Black Levels patent leather trousers in a 5-pocket style are the most expensive item in the comparison from the manufacturer, 79.95 euro, and in Sweden size S cost 699 SEK at Lekosmek and Taboo, and 799 SEK at Vuxen. The material is the same. So the waist corset costs 300 SEK less in the cheapest store, for a garment that the manufacturer prices ten euros lower.

The trousers and the corset share a flaw: neither of them has published garment measurements. For the trousers, the leg length is missing, and for the corset, the height. In both cases, it’s the measurement that is most specific for the garment type that is missing, while the shared body size chart is available.

Other waistwear in patent leather and wetlook

Outside Black Level, there are two nearby options in the same price data. Obsessive 859, a corset with string panties in a wetlook style, cost 429 SEK at Blush Me and 599 SEK at Vuxen and Taboo during the price check. It’s a set with panties and thus not the same type of garment, but it’s the closest corset alternative in the round. NO:XQSE's wetlook garter belt holders with stockings cost 249 SEK and are instead a garment for the hips and legs. Black Level’s waist corset is the only one in the comparison that is a pure waist garment with shaping stays, a zipper, and lacing.

Price range: 399 to 769 SEK at three stores

Three Swedish stores sell size S with EAN 4024144146048, and all three had it in stock during the price check on September 12, 2026. Taboo took 399 SEK, Lekosmek 699 SEK, and Mshop 769 SEK. The spread is 370 SEK, and Mshop’s price is 93 percent higher than Taboo’s. It’s the same item number from the same manufacturer at all three stores.

Taboo’s product data lists 699 SEK as the comparable price, which makes 399 SEK a discounted price at that store—and 699 SEK is exactly what Lekosmek took. Orion’s own price in the German web store is 69.95 euro, and the German retailer AG Fashion lists 54.90 euro as the regular price—even in Germany, then, the price for the same item varies.

The practical conclusion is simple: there is no difference in the item between the stores—only in price. What else could differ is shipping, delivery time, and return conditions—check them at checkout. The return conditions are covered in the section on the right of withdrawal below.

When the sources contradict each other

The review of three Swedish stores, two German retailers, and the manufacturer’s two pages resulted in four discrepancies worth reporting.

The first concerns sizing. AG Fashion states "S = 36, M = 38, L = 40, XL = 42", while Orion’s chart lists S as 36/38, M as 40/42, L as 44/46, and XL as 48/50. Someone wearing size 38 would, according to AG Fashion, choose M, but according to Orion, S—and at the XL end, the distance between the indications becomes larger than a whole size. The manufacturer’s size chart applies, and High Feelings publishes the same centimeter values as Orion.

The second concerns how much the corset shapes. Mshop writes "1-2 cm" in the product text and "about 1 to 2 inches" in the care section on the same page. Two inches is a little over five centimeters. Neither of the figures is provided by the manufacturer, and they can’t both be correct.

The third concerns weight. Orion lists 260 grams on the wholesaler side. Taboo’s and Lekosmek’s product data both have 225 grams in the weight field, and Mshop’s specification table lists 0.23 kilos. The stores’ values are almost the same among themselves, but they differ from the manufacturer’s. It’s likely shipping settings rather than weighed garments, and the manufacturer’s value applies.

The fourth applies to Mshop’s page. The page’s product data states size S and the correct EAN, 4024144146048, but the specification table further down shows EAN 4024144146062—which belongs to size L according to Orion. It’s a table shared between the sizes on Mshop’s page, not an error in the item, but the person checking the EAN number on the page can get confused. The barcode and the manufacturer’s item number in the page’s product data are what identify the item.

For whom is the waist corset for—and for whom is it not?

It’s for you if you want a defined waist in patent leather without buying a full corset. The design with a zipper in front and lacing in back is well thought out: the lacing is adjusted to your body, the zipper handles taking it on and off, and the patent leather panel underneath the lacing makes your back stay closed. It also fits you if you want a patent-leather garment without PVC and without latex, since the declaration rules out both.

It fits you if you already have—or plan to buy—other Black Level garments. The material is the same as in the brand’s dress, skirt, and trousers, so the shine and surface match. And it fits you if you shop based on price: 399 SEK at Taboo is lower than the lowest Swedish price for Black Level’s dress, mini skirt, and patent-leather pants.

It doesn’t fit you if you want to train your waist or if you’re looking for a corset with steel boning. The manufacturer does not specify the material or number of the boning, and the only store that describes them explicitly writes that it is not a steel-boned corset. It also doesn’t fit you if you want to know exactly how tall the corset is before you buy it: no height is published for any size. And it doesn’t fit you if you want to be able to machine-wash it—the manufacturer’s instruction is hand-wash after each use.

Complaints, right of withdrawal, and the hygiene exception

Orion does not state any voluntary manufacturer guarantee for the waist corset, which is normal for textile products. What applies regardless of the store is your statutory rights. According to konsumentköplagen, you have three years to file a complaint about defects in the item. A defect is something that was present at delivery: a seam that comes apart, a zipper that doesn’t work, a metal ring that comes loose, or a shaping boning that penetrates the fabric without the garment being used incorrectly. Normal wear and tear is not a defect, and on a coated garment, the line between wear and defects is exactly what a dispute would be about—which is a reason to follow the manufacturer’s care instructions.

For distance purchases, the right of withdrawal applies for fourteen days according to the Act on Distance Contracts and Contracts outside Business Premises. Konsumentverket (the Swedish Consumer Agency) provides guidance on an exception for sealed goods that, for health or hygiene reasons, are not suitable to return when the seal has been broken. The shops apply their own terms within that framework. Mshop states that return rights do not apply to underwear that is worn on the lower body, while outerwear can be tried on and sent back in the same condition and packaging. A waist corset is not explicitly mentioned in any of the groups, so ask the store before you order if returns are important to you. Orion’s customer information states that underwear must always be worn when the garment is tried on—a guideline that is also the best protection for the return right.
