A panty vibrator is a small, flat vibrator that’s worn inside your underwear against the clitoris and held in place by a magnet or a pocket in the clothing. It’s controlled with a button, a remote control, or an app, and it’s made to be worn hands-free—alone or with a partner who keeps control. What sets the models apart is the attachment, runtime, and control.
A panty vibrator—sometimes called vibrating underwear or panty vibrator—is an external vibrator shaped to lie flat against the vulva, with the contact surface against the clitoris. It isn’t inserted. It sits in place thanks to your underwear, so your hands are free and it can be worn for a longer time.
The models in our comparison are between 74.5 and 89 millimeters long and weigh between 35 and 89 grams according to the manufacturers. Lovense Ferri is 74.5 × 27 × 21 millimeters and 35 grams, Satisfyer Sexy Secret 85.7 × 39 × 29 millimeters and 40.3 grams, and Pretty Love Romario 89 × 37 × 27 millimeters and 89 grams.
It’s for the person who wants clitoral stimulation without holding anything, the person who wants to try a toy that shouldn’t be inserted, and couples who want one person to be able to control it while the other wears it. It’s a worse choice for the person who wants strong, focused stimulation for a short time—there, a handheld clitoral stimulator or a massager wand is usually a better option, because it can be pressed against the body with any amount of pressure.
The panty vibrator is closely related to two other types. A vibrating egg is also worn hands-free, but it’s inserted vaginally. A couple’s vibrator is worn during intercourse with one arm inside and one outside. The panty vibrator is the only one of the three that is completely external—which makes it one of the easiest toys to start with.
There are essentially two ways to keep a panty vibrator in place, and the attachment determines which underwear you can use.
Most newer models have a magnetic attachment. The vibrator is placed inside the garment with the contact surface against the body, and a separate magnetic tab or magnetic pad is attached to the outside of the fabric, opposite the other part. The two pull together through the fabric. Ferri, Sexy Secret, Satisfyer Little Secretand Romario work this way, while IntoYou’s panty vibratorhas an integrated magnet.
The advantage is that you can position the vibrator wherever you want on the garment, because the magnet does not need a fabric edge to grip. The disadvantage is that the loose magnetic part can be misplaced. Lovense points out in its FAQ that snug underwear keeps Ferri in place better than loose ones—magnetic pull drops off quickly with distance, so thin, tight fabric is the favorable situation. IntoYou does not publish any maximum fabric thickness for its model.
Because magnetic panty vibrators contain permanent magnets, they should not be placed directly over a pacemaker or other implanted electronics. Also keep the short magnet strip away from the magnet part.
Some panty vibrators are instead sold with a pair of panties that have a built-in pocket for the vibrator, or with a harness with straps. This provides a secure attachment but locks you into a specific garment. If the fit of the included panties doesn’t work, the whole toy is difficult to use—so check which sizes the garment comes in before purchasing, if that’s the type you choose.
Since a panty vibrator isn’t kept in place with your hand, the fit determines almost everything. Three things are worth considering:
Positioning. The contact surface should be against the clitoris, not in front of or behind it. With a magnetic attachment, you can adjust the position freely, so try it out before you start the vibration.
Underwear. Snug panties in thin material provide the best contact and the best magnetic attachment. Very loose-fitting garments or thick lace make the vibrator slip or cause the contact to be lost.
Size and thickness. A thinner and lighter vibrator is less visible under clothing and feels less noticeable when you move. Ferri is 21 millimeters thick, Sexy Secret 29 millimeters, and Romario 27 millimeters, according to the manufacturers. Weight varies more—from 35 to 89 grams.
An underwear vibrator sits under your clothes, so the button on the product itself is hard to reach once it’s in place. That’s why nearly all models have some kind of remote control.
Remote control. A small physical controller that works without a phone and without pairing. Little Secret has a remote control on 433 megahertz with four buttons, and Romario has a remote control on an AAA battery. The range is limited to the same room or a few meters.
App. The Ferri, Sexy Secret, and IntoYous models are controlled with the manufacturer’s app via Bluetooth. The app provides more patterns and a long-distance mode where a partner can control it over the internet. Ferri has no remote control at all and only three intensity levels on the button without the app.

Operating time varies the most between models. According to the manufacturers, Ferri lasts 195 minutes, Sexy Secret and Little Secret about 60 minutes, and IntoYous’ model up to 50 minutes. Pretty Love does not publish any operating time for Romario. Charging time also differs: 60 minutes for Ferri, 35 minutes for IntoYou, and about three hours for Satisfyers’ two models.
The sound level is harder to compare, because none of the manufacturers above publishes a measured decibel value for their underwear vibrator. Lovense, however, is unusually direct in its FAQ: Ferri is designed to be discreet, but explicitly not completely silent, and tight-fitting clothes, quiet rooms, and higher levels make it more noticeable. Nearly all underwear vibrators are charged with a magnetic cable that only fits that manufacturer’s products. A regular USB-C won’t work, so store the cable together with the vibrator.
If you’re considering a panty vibrator, an app-controlled vibrating egg is the closest alternative. The difference is where the stimulation goes: the panty vibrator provides external stimulation toward the clitoris, while the egg is worn inside and has a tail that rests on the outside. Lovense states that Ferri is intended for clitoral stimulation and not for internal use, while the Lush eggs are inserted—so the choice is between external and internal stimulation, not between better and worse.

Panty vibrators are often marketed for play outside the bedroom—e.g., at dinner where your partner keeps control. It can be a fun game—if it’s something between the two of you.
The person who wears the vibrator decides. You should agree in advance on where, when, and how, and the person who wears it should always be able to turn it off or take it off without having to explain themselves. Never use a panty vibrator on someone who doesn’t know about it and hasn’t said yes, and don’t hand over control to someone else without the person who wears it having approved that.
Also consider your surroundings. No panty vibrator is completely silent, and other people shouldn’t become part of the play without having chosen to. Start at home, and then take it to an environment where both of you feel comfortable.
A panty vibrator stays against the mucous membranes for a long time, so cleaning is important. Wash it before and after each use with lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free soap or a sex toy cleaner, and let it dry completely before you put it away. IPX7 means the product can be submerged to a depth of one meter for 30 minutes according to the standard IEC 60529, and makes cleaning easy. Ferri, Sexy Secret, and Little Secret are IPX7 according to the manufacturers. Romario is only marked as waterproof, and the IntoYou model is stated as waterproof, but none of them has a published IP rating—treat them therefore as resistant to rinsing, not to submersion.
Use water-based lubricant if you use lubricant, since silicone-based lubricant can break down the silicone surface and make it porous.
