Satisfyer Pro 2 Generation 3 has two motors – air pulse and vibration – two removable caps, one of them with Liquid Air, a 500 mAh battery and USB-C charging, and comes with or without an app. Pro 2 Next Generation, which is Satisfyer's Generation 2, has air pulse only, a single head with no extra cap and a 220 mAh battery, but it is lighter and cheaper.
Satisfyer Pro 2 Generation 3 and Pro 2 Next Generation look almost identical, but Generation 3 is in practice a different product. It has a second motor for vibration, two caps that can be removed, a larger battery and – in one of its two versions – app control. Next Generation does one thing: pressure waves at eleven intensities.
Choose Next Generation if you just want to try air pulse technology as simply and cheaply as possible. Choose Pro 2 Generation 3 if you want vibration in the same toy, want to be able to clean the pressure chamber on the inside or want a published run time and charging with ordinary USB-C. Only choose the Connect App version of Generation 3 if you actually want to use the app.
The big problem with Pro 2 is not choosing between the generations, but knowing which one you are looking at. Retailers name them differently, and Satisfyer has several closely related models with almost the same name. So that is where we start.
Satisfyer itself calls the older model Pro 2 Generation 2 on its product page. In shops it is usually sold as Pro 2 Next Generation. So it is the same product, and when this guide says Next Generation it means Generation 2.
Generation 3 comes in two versions: Pro 2 Generation 3 Connect App, with Bluetooth and app control, and Pro 2 Generation 3 without the app, which is sometimes sold with the addition with Liquid Air. They have their own EAN numbers for each colour. On top of those there is Pro 2+, which in shops is often called Pro 2 Vibration – a smaller model with vibration but without a Liquid Air cap.
The safest way to know what you are buying is the EAN number in the product information. Some examples from the manufacturer's information:

Next Generation has one motor and eleven pressure wave intensities. Generation 3 has two separately controlled motors: eleven pressure wave programmes in the head and twelve vibration programmes – five speeds and seven patterns – in the body. The motors can run separately or together, and according to the quick guide each one is started with its own press of about two seconds. So you can turn up the pressure waves without touching the vibration.
Next Generation comes with a single head and no extra cap. Generation 3 comes with two caps that pull off by hand: a classic pressure wave cap and a Liquid Air cap. The latter has a thin and very soft silicone membrane over the opening, and Satisfyer describes the effect as imitating the wave of pulsating water. Satisfyer publishes no measurements of how much the membrane dampens the pressure.
Removable caps have a practical advantage beyond Liquid Air: the pressure chamber can be cleaned on the inside. That is otherwise the hardest part of an air pulse toy to get at. Note that both caps have the same opening – they change the technology, not the size.
Satisfyer specifies a 220 mAh lithium-ion battery for Next Generation and 500 mAh for Generation 3. For Generation 3, the quick guide gives about 60 minutes of usage time and about 3 hours of charging time. Both charge with ordinary USB-C, which is unusual in Satisfyer's range, where many models have a magnetic cable.
About 60 minutes of run time on about three hours of charging is short compared with more expensive air pulse toys – Womanizer, for example, specifies 240 minutes for Premium 2. If you want a long run time, read Womanizer or Satisfyer.
Next Generation measures 165 × 46 × 65 mm and weighs 174.7 g according to Satisfyer. Generation 3 measures 164 × 65 × 46 mm and weighs 204 g in the Connect App version and 203 g without the app. So the length is the same, but Generation 3 is about 30 grams heavier – roughly what an extra motor and a larger battery weigh.
Both are listed in Satisfyer's specification tables as ABS plastic and silicone, and Satisfyer's FAQ states that the head on all Air Pulse products is made of silicone. The product text for Generation 3 talks about seamless silicone with a soft-touch feel, while the table lists ABS and silicone; the contact surface against the body is silicone in both cases. Both are rated IPX7 and can be submerged.
Next Generation has no app. Generation 3 Connect App can be controlled with Satisfyer Connect, which according to Satisfyer provides remote control via Bluetooth or the internet, Apple Watch support, a vibration designer for custom patterns, control by a Spotify playlist and a mode where ambient sound becomes vibrations. Satisfyer's FAQ states that the Bluetooth connection works best within 10 metres.
All programmes can also be controlled from the buttons, so the app is an extra. Remote control over the internet requires an account in the app.
The versions have the same two motors, the same programmes, the same two caps, the same battery and the same dimensions. The difference is Bluetooth and the app – and a few grams. If you will never control the toy from your phone, or if a partner is not going to, there is no reason to choose the Connect App version.
If, on the other hand, you want to be able to create your own vibration patterns, let a partner control it at a distance or link the toy to music, the Connect App version is the one. App-controlled toys at a distance are described in more detail in remote-controlled sex toys.
Pro 2+ is easily confused with Generation 3, since both have air pulse and vibration. The differences are clear in the specification. Pro 2 Vibration is the smallest and lightest in the Pro 2 family: 143 × 46 × 54 mm and 90.3 g, compared with 204 g for Generation 3. It has eleven pressure wave levels and ten vibration programmes, and the vibration sits in the silicone rim that rests against the body. The battery is 450 mAh with about 60 minutes of run time and about 2 hours of charging time.
What Pro 2+ lacks is the extra Liquid Air cap, and it charges with a magnetic cable instead of USB-C. Choose it if you want two motors in as small a format as possible; choose Generation 3 if you want the caps and ordinary USB-C.
Choose Pro 2 Next Generation if you want to try air pulse technology for the first time, only want pressure waves and want to keep the cost down. It is also about 30 grams lighter than Generation 3.
Choose Pro 2 Generation 3 without the app if you want both pressure waves and vibration, want to be able to remove the cap and clean the chamber and want to charge with USB-C, but do not need your phone.
Choose Pro 2 Generation 3 Connect App if you also want remote control, custom patterns or music control.
Choose Pro 2+ if you want two motors in a smaller and lighter body and can live with a magnetic cable and no Liquid Air cap.
If fit is the deciding factor – if the opening on a previous air pulse toy did not seal properly – none of the Pro 2 models will help, since none comes with a different head size. In that case a model with heads in several sizes, such as Womanizer Premium 2, is a better choice.
Pro 2 has several siblings with the same pressure wave technology but a different shape. Pro 3 Vibration (Pro 3+) also has two motors with eleven pressure wave levels and ten vibration programmes, but in a different shape measuring 145 × 48 × 43 mm and 113 g. Satisfyer Traveler has air pulse only, eleven intensities and a magnetic cap, and weighs 56 g.
Pro 4 Couples is a U-shaped couples' vibrator with air pulse for the clitoris and vibration inside, and Pro G-spot Rabbit adds a vibrating G-spot arm to the pressure waves. Pro 4 Couples also comes in a battery-powered variant with the same name that is only IPX6 – yet another reason to check the EAN number. Satisfyer's quick guide for Generation 3 states that the product may only be used with original caps from Satisfyer, and that other caps can cause it to work in an unintended way and void the warranty. Satisfyer sells separate replacement caps for the Pro 2 range; check which models they are stated to fit before ordering.
Use water-based lube, since silicone-based lube can damage the silicone surface. Clean with lukewarm water and mild soap, and on Generation 3 with the cap removed. More about the routines in how to clean sex toys.
Satisfyer states a fifteen-year warranty for the Pro 2 models. According to the terms, it only starts to run once the statutory warranty period in the buyer's country has expired, the battery is excluded and the warranty does not apply in all countries – check the terms for the country where you live.
Buying by name rather than by EAN number. Pro 2, Pro 2+, Next Generation and Generation 3 are different products, and Generation 3 comes with and without an app.
Thinking the Liquid Air cap is a different size. It has the same opening as the pressure wave cap and changes the sensation, not the fit.
Expecting a long run time. Satisfyer states about 60 minutes for Generation 3 and Pro 2+, so it is a good idea to charge after every use.
