Fun Factory: the models and what sets them apart

Fun Factory's range can be divided into five groups. The first and most distinctive is the pulsators in the Stronic series – Stronic Petite, Surf, Wave and G Forte – which move back and forth under their own power. The second is Bi Stronic, where the same thrusting motion is combined with a vibrating clitoral arm. The third is classic vibrators and rabbit vibrators such as Miss Bi, Mr. Boss, Wicked Angel and Darling Devil, several of which run on ordinary AAA batteries.

The fourth group is small and external models: the finger vibrator Be One, the mini vibrator Stella and the air pulse stimulators Belle and Delicia. The fifth is what's neither vibrator nor pulsator: the cock ring NŌS Classic and the dildo Ryde, which has no electronics at all.

Two things apply to almost the whole range. Run time is often short, between 30 and 45 minutes for most of the rechargeable models, and the warranty on the packaging isn't the warranty you get if you buy from an ordinary shop. Both are explained below.

An ordinary vibrator shakes. A pulsator thrusts: the shaft moves back and forth lengthways, driven by a mechanism inside the product. Fun Factory describes it for Stronic Petite as a magnetically driven oscillating body, and the pulsator technology in Bi Stronic Fusion is patented. Because the movement comes from inside, the pulsator can be used hands-free – you don't have to move it back and forth yourself.

That makes pulsators something different from thrusting vibrators that merely vibrate powerfully. Bear in mind that Fun Factory doesn't publish stroke length or thrust rate for its pulsators, so the models can't be compared on those points.

The three newer Stronic models have a lot in common: silicone against the body, a housing with ABS plastic, IPX7, charging with standard USB-C and a charging time of about three hours. The USB-C cable isn't included in the box according to the manufacturer's quick guides. The differences lie in size, shape and number of programmes.

Fun Factory Stronic Petite is the smallest in the series: 170 × 38 × 37 millimetres and 218 grams, with eight thrusting programmes and a 500 mAh battery giving about 30 minutes of use. It has a travel lock and a favourite mode that can be saved, and according to the manufacturer it's light enough to work entirely without counter-pressure. Fun Factory also sells Stronic Dive, which according to our review has the same battery and run time.

Fun Factory Stronic Surf has a wave-profiled shaft and ten thrusting programmes split across seven speeds and three patterns. It's 205 × 47 × 38 millimetres, weighs 294 grams and has a 900 mAh battery with about 40 minutes of use. It has a key lock for transport and no vibration beyond the thrusting motion.

Fun Factory Stronic Wave has the same split – seven speed levels plus three patterns – in a wave-shaped shaft of 211 × 41 × 41 millimetres and 276 grams. The battery is 800 mAh and run time about 40 minutes.

Fun Factory Stronic G Forte differs from the newer models on several points. It has eight modes – four speeds and four programmes – a memory function, travel lock and a four-step battery indicator, and run time is 2–3 hours. But it charges with a magnetic cable, charging takes six hours and no IP rating is published. The manufacturer advises against the bath, shower and running water, and states that it isn't anal-safe. The product page has been removed, so expect it to be on its way out.

The Bi Stronic models are rabbit vibrators where the inner shaft is a pulsator and the outer arm vibrates. The two motors are controlled separately, so the product can be used as a thrusting G-spot vibrator, as a clitoral vibrator or as both at once.

Fun Factory Bi Stronic Arc has eight thrusting programmes and six vibration programmes on separate buttons, making 48 combinations. It charges with standard USB-C, is IPX7 and has a 900 mAh battery. Run time is about 30 minutes on about three hours of charging, and at 336 grams and 223 millimetres it's heavy. The USB-C port sits behind a rubber plug that must be seated correctly for IPX7 to apply.

Fun Factory Bi Stronic Fusion has the same principle with eight thrusting programmes and six vibration modes, USB-C, IPX7, a memory function and travel lock, and it's labelled anal-safe by the manufacturer. It has been phased out of Fun Factory's catalogue, and for the version on sale today neither run time, charging time nor battery capacity is published. Fun Factory's ordinary vibrators are simpler than the pulsators, and several of them run on replaceable AAA batteries instead of a built-in battery.

Fun Factory Miss Bi is a rechargeable rabbit vibrator with 650 mAh, six speed levels and six patterns, USB-C and IPX7. It's 173 × 76 × 38 millimetres and 230 grams. The LOOP handle with its stop means the manufacturer labels it anal-safe. Run time is about 40 minutes on about two hours of charging, and the cable isn't included.

Fun Factory Mr. Boss is a realistically shaped G-spot vibrator with a 210-millimetre silicone shaft whose diameter goes from 1.7 to 4.0 centimetres. It has four speeds and six vibration programmes, Travel Lock and IPX7, and runs on two AAA batteries, which aren't included.

Fun Factory Wicked Angel and Darling Devil are battery-powered rabbit vibrators with four speeds and six patterns. Wicked Angel weighs 128 grams and gives about 45 minutes of use on two AAA batteries. Darling Devil is 20.5 centimetres and 205 grams, but the manufacturer publishes no run time for it. Fun Factory states that both are free from plasticisers, BPA and phthalates.

Mr. Boss, Wicked Angel, Darling Devil and the mini vibrator Stella run on AAA batteries. The advantage is that there's no built-in battery to age and no charging cable to lose – a flat battery is swapped in seconds. The downside is that the batteries aren't included and that Fun Factory advises against rechargeable cells in several of the models.

Waterproofing works differently too. Fun Factory states that the battery-powered models are waterproof provided the battery compartment or end cap is properly closed. So check the cap before you rinse the toy. More on choosing between batteries and charging in rechargeable sex toys.

Fun Factory Be One is a finger vibrator measuring 7 × 2 centimetres and weighing 28 grams that sits between your index and middle finger with no attachment. It has two motors, four speed levels and a random pattern, USB-C, IPX7 and a key lock. The battery is 110 mAh, and the manufacturer gives the run time as about 35 minutes in the quick guide but 60 minutes on the product page. More on the format in the guide to finger vibrators.

The mini vibrator Stella is 98 millimetres long and 52 grams, has twelve programmes on a single button and runs on one AAA battery giving about 60 minutes of use.

Fun Factory Belle and Delicia are clitoral stimulators with Air Pulse technology, meaning pressure waves instead of vibration. Both have eleven intensity levels on three buttons, IPX7, USB-C and a 220 mAh battery with about 45 minutes of use. Belle is the most compact, 88 × 55 × 50 millimetres and 84 grams, while Delicia weighs 176 grams. Fun Factory also sells Mea with the same technology as Delicia; we haven't reviewed it. Fun Factory NŌS Classic is a vibrating cock ring with two motors in two flexible silicone arms. It's 81 × 38 × 14 millimetres and 34 grams, IPX7 and charges with USB-C. The battery is 80 mAh and run time about 30 minutes, and it has four speed levels and one pattern. The manufacturer publishes no inner diameter. Fun Factory Ryde is a dildo with no electronics at all: two ribbed shafts on a suction cup base that also fits a harness. So it can be used for penetration, external grinding and hands-free on the suction cup, and as a strap-on. It's 155 × 82 × 82 millimetres and 239 grams, and the shafts are 10–12.3 centimetres with a maximum diameter of 3.8 centimetres. Fun Factory lists it as waterproof but publishes no IP rating, and gives two different material descriptions on its German and English pages. More on suction cup dildos in suction cup dildos.

Many Fun Factory boxes say 25-year warranty. According to the manufacturer's own FAQ, the 25 years only apply when buying directly from Fun Factory. If you buy from a retailer, the same FAQ says a 24-month warranty applies. For some older models the information is unclear, for example Bi Stronic Fusion.

The warranty can also be lost if the product is damaged by the wrong substances. Fun Factory explicitly warns against oils and creams – suntan oil, sun cream, lip balm, essential oils, coconut oil and cooking oils – which according to the manufacturer can cause irreversible damage to the control unit and the whole product.

The first mistake is expecting long run time. Most rechargeable Fun Factory models last 30–45 minutes per charge, and the pulsators charge in about three hours. So charge after every use.

The second is not having a USB-C cable at home. The newer models charge with standard USB-C, which is an advantage, but the cable often isn't included. The third is rinsing the toy with the charging cover, rubber plug or battery compartment open – IPX7 assumes they're in place. No Fun Factory toy should be boiled or put in the dishwasher; the storage temperature is given as −5 to +60 degrees for several models.

The fourth is the lube. Use water-based: Fun Factory states that silicone-based lube is very hard to remove completely from a silicone surface, and oils damage both the toy and latex condoms. Clean after every use and use a condom if the toy is shared; step by step in how to clean sex toys. Only use models the manufacturer labels anal-safe for anal play, and stop if it hurts.

If you want hands-free thrusting, the Stronic series is Fun Factory's strength: Wave and Surf for the most programmes, Petite if you want the smallest. If you want thrusting and clitoral vibration at the same time, Bi Stronic Arc is the value choice. If you prefer an ordinary vibrator, Miss Bi is a rechargeable rabbit, and Mr. Boss a simple G-spot vibrator with no charging cable.

For something small and external there's Be One and the air pulse models Belle and Delicia. For couples there's the cock ring NŌS Classic, and for anyone who wants to avoid electronics entirely, the dildo Ryde.
