Water resistance. IPX7 means the product can be submerged in one meter of water for 30 minutes and can be rinsed under the tap. The word “waterproof” without an IP number doesn’t correspond to any defined testing. For masturbators and anal toys, which must be cleaned carefully, IPX7 is worth prioritizing. Note that Svakom for both Iker Neo and Vick Neo 2 only writes “Waterproof” in the manual and IPX7 in the marketing materials.
Charging and run time. Compare run time with charging time, not just the run time. Satisfyer Men Vibration+ charges for about six hours for about 90 minutes of operation, while Swordsman charges for about one hour for about 60 minutes. Many models charge with a magnetic, product-specific cable—a standard USB-C cable won’t work if you lose the original one.
Sound level. Few manufacturers publish a decibel value. Lovense lists 43 dB for Edge 2 and Svakom lists up to 55 dB for Vick Neo 2 and up to 60 dB for Svakom Iker Neo, but without measurement distance, the values can’t be compared directly. Learn more in "silent vibrators.
App or buttons. An app offers more patterns and remote control, but check what works without a phone. Lelo Hugo 2 runs at full intensity if it isn’t connected to the app, and Lovense Edge 2 can only be controlled motor by motor via the app.
Material. Silicone is non-porous and easy to keep clean, and it should be combined with a water-based lubricant. Skin-like materials such as TPE in manual sleeves are porous and require more careful care. See "safe materials in sex toys.
